The Cluetrain Manifesto-95 Theses

It took me awhile..well actually a long time to read the 95 thesis. The reasoning why is because it took me awhile to actually get it. I had to read over it a few times to get where it was going. To a certain extinct I still dont get it but from my understanding and the ones that stood out the most were theses number 17, 21, 22, and 80

Theses 17 stated: "Companies that assume online markets are the same markets that used to watch their ads on television are kidding themselves."
-The market is constantly growing and forever changing as we speak so to say something regarding business and the market is the same 10 years ago should think again before restating that.
Theses 21 stated: Companies need to lighten up and take themselves less seriously. They need to get a sense of humor."
-I'm not trying to type-cast all Corporate Americans but a lot of the people get so caught up in their jobs that they forget their origins and where they started off at in the beginning. They tend to get so caught up in what they are doing that they loose their personalities and just become..fake.
Theses 22 stated: Getting a sense of humor does not mean putting some jokes on the corporate web site. Rather, it requires big values, a little humility, straight talk, and a genuine point of view."
-This one to me related to Theses 21. When some find out that others think they have a fake personality, they try to prove the rest wrong by doing things around the office to prove they are not "fake" and do have a "lively personality". But it just makes it even more faker than what it really is. Just be natural about it. Show your true colors and who you really are.
Theses 80 stated: "Don't worry, you can still make money. That is, as long as it's not the only thing on your mind."
-Some people go after the professions that brings in the most money and some do professions that make them happy. The ones that do choose the ones that make the most money just because it makes the most money,I feel are not truly happy at what they do. They may make the bill, but inside they aren't really liking what they do compared to the one who chose the profession that will give them consistent happiness.

Dueling videos…courting the youth vote

Unfortunately I dont hold much information regarding politics. I'm trying this year to try to learn about it, go out and vote, and try to figure out what each candidates stances are. With the Hillary and Obama videos, both were obviously trying to target younger audiences. Which is a good strategy tactic on both sides especially since its on youtube. who doesnt go on youtube now a days? I found the Hilary clip funny and the band helped a lot by adding a little comedy to it. With the Obama clip, I found it very moving. The "Yes I can" speech was already pretty moving but adding music and singing to it helped a lot. It definitely caught my attention. Adding celebrities to a candidates' campaign is a good strategy tactic because when they see that all these celebrities are for them than they are going to be more interested in it. Celebrities already hold a strong fan base so putting their faces in a campaign or video makes you want to see it even more.

My Header

I know its a bit late but I have good reasons. I've had this saved on my usb drive for the longest time but I have been sick with the flu for the last week and a half. So me and the computer havent been linking arms for awhile. Hopefully you guys like it. I was having some difficulties in creating the header. The main difficult was just trying to smudge the picture into the background and finding a color that does good with it. My original picture of the Santa Monica Pier wasnt working at all despite the fact that it was a really good picture.

Late-Breaking Assignment

Professor McCune gave us 3 separate assignments to write about and we had to choose one. The first one was to watch Superbowl Sunday and write on the commercials and our opinions on it. The second one was to attend the AMC JMC session within the school of JMC. It was an accrediting team for University of Washington who were having a sort of discussion, interview type session with students in the department. The final one was about your experience with the primary election. I knocked out one because my radio show was during the same time as the Superbowl but from what I heard, I didn’t miss much. And unfortunately I am not registered to vote, but I will soon! So I went to the session for the Journalism students for the AMC JMC discussion.
In my opinion, it seemed a bit unorganized because once I entered the room 209 where this session was suppose to occur, I was told to go to another room, but apparently that was the wrong room then I was sent to 2 other room coming to find out that the original room of 209 was to begin with. So after scrambling around the whole department, I honestly didn’t have to feel of even being there. But I stayed because I knew it would be a good experience for me. Most of the students there were practically done with their major so I really didn’t have much to say since I just started taking core classes this semester. Which I felt bad because I really would of liked to state my opinion on something.
Some of things that were examined were mainly how the department is. With advising, majority said that the department is doing a good job and the bluesheet is pretty much self explanatory on what classes we need to take. They also said that the department gives students great opportunities in internships and job opportunities once they graduate. With the department itself, everyone agreed upon saying based on the experience and what they learned if they could do it again they would. And that the department has more of a closure and intimate setting based on other departments just because of the simple fact that the classes are smaller and you can get more of a one-one with the professor. With equipment, students said that they would like more equipment because it seems as if the students are “battling for the software”. Not all the labs have the systems needed if not few. Especially for editing like Apples, Final Cut, Pro & Adobe Premier. Some students even have to stay later than wanted to just to get a hold of computer that has a system that’s needed and available. Finally when asked what do they want more out of the department was “more cooperation with other majors.” This was specifically speaking on the RTVF department by doing some collaboration as well as Print Majors and Advertising majors.

Photshop Assignment Two

Today in Mcom 63 we learned how to eliminate dust spots from an old photo, changing a photo from color to black and white & crooping. This is the picture.
